Oahu SPCA Joins March Muttness 2025: Help Us Compete for Homeless Pets!
Get ready for March Muttness 2025! The nationwide, bracket-style fundraising tournament is back, and this year, we need your support more than ever! Oahu SPCA is proud to be the sole Hawaii-based shelter competing in this exciting event, where over 35 animal shelters across the country will battle it out to raise critical funds for homeless pets.
A Competition with a Purpose
Launched during the COVID-19 pandemic, March Muttness has grown into an annual tradition with a powerful mission. What started as a way to support shelters impacted by canceled in-person events has evolved into a highly anticipated nationwide tournament. In 2024 alone, the tournament raised over $430,000 with 38 participating teams. This year, we want victory, and with your help, we can make Hawaii proud!
March Muttness 2025 is driven entirely by community donations, meaning every contribution directly impacts the shelters and animals who need it the most. As Hawaii’s only contender, Oahu SPCA is counting on you to support our mission and help us win!
How It Works: Every Dollar Counts!
This isn’t your typical fundraising tournament. Instead of competing on the field, participating shelters compete for donations throughout the month of March. To stay in the competition, we must raise more than our bracket rival during each round of the tournament... so, every dollar you donate brings Oahu SPCA closer to victory. By donating to our shelter, you’re helping us secure a spot and advance to the next round of competition where we can continue the fight for homeless pets in Hawaii.
Here’s how the tournament breaks down:
The Qualifier Round
- Start: Saturday, March 1 – 11 AM EST
- End: Sunday, March 2 – 11 PM EST
This is our chance to earn a spot in the top 32 bracket! We’ll be competing against another shelter in this two-day round to raise more funds than our bracket rival. With your support, we can advance to the next phase of the tournament and continue fighting for the animals who need it most.
Once we have qualified, the round schedule (which is when your donations to Oahu SPCA via the March Muttness website count) is as follows:
Round 1: March 6-8
Round 2: March 13-15
Round 3: March 16-18
Round 4: March 20-22
Championship Round: March 27-29
